| Biography Brad Eyre was born in Ottawa, Ontario in July 1968 and comes by his artistic inclinations naturally. The nephew of prominent artist, Ivan Eyre, Brad found himself surrounded by art from an early age. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a Specialist degree in Fine Art, he traveled throughout Europe and North Africa, pausing to study Conservation techniques at the Prado Museum in Madrid and subsequently traveling to study at Oxford University, England. Upon returning to Canada, he took a job as a Public Program Coordinator at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection where he developed art education and studio programs for the gallery. In 1995 he accepted a position as Assistant Director of the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art where he continued to develop contemporary exhibitions along with pursuing his own artistic pursuits. After a number of years of perfecting his own visual language through creating artwork primarily for private collectors, he returned to exhibiting publicly in 2003. "I have always been fascinated with looking for and seeing images in places that are often disregarded as incidental patterns in riverbeds, images found in the texture of a sidewalk or the depth of colour found deep in the underbrush of a forest or garden. My current work is entrenched in a fluidity of form and colour intended to capture the essence of a feeling, memory or place." Rich colour and fluid, organic forms are central to Brads landscape inspired abstract works. |
